Successful Seed Coating, Encrusting and Pelleting workshop held in Thailand
September 5th, 2018
Last week Centor Europe participated in a very successful workshop on Seed Coating, Encrusting and Pelleting as presented by the International Seed Academy (ISA) and hosted by Rhino Research. After registration opened a couple of months ago the workshop was fully booked within a week, indicating to us the need for such a practical course. A total of 19 international delegates from various positions within companies originating from 10 countries participated in this event. The theoretical lessons in the morning, covering subjects about coating drying and quality testing, were followed with practical sessions about filmcoating, encrusting and pelleting as well as drying technologies and exposure to some analytical tests such as the Rhino-vision Videometer. These practical sessions were conducted in such a way that all delegates had the opportunity to do coating, encrusting and pelleting trials on various technologies that were available at Rhino Research. Delegates returned home with a certificate of attendance and a wealth of new knowledge that can be applied in their respective companies.
Centor Europe has partnered with the International Seed Academy as we believe that through this means we are able to share our experiences and nowledge with the seed industry. Internationally seen, seed technology is a firly closed science and appart from seed technology researchers, who can attend Masterclasses at Universities, there are almost no short practical courses available for other positions in the company involved with seed technology. ISA offers these practical courses and makes use of industry associates and experts to share and present the practical knowledge. For this reason we have seen our delegates to include MD's, GM's, Researchers and Coating Operators during this past event. ISA hope's to conduct the next Seed Coating, Encrusting and Pelleting workshop in two years time.
At the end of this year ISA will hold a 2 week Seed ResQ course, followed by a course on Priming / Enhancement and Seed Drying in 2019.
